Storytelling University

This section is to help you understand how to tell better stories and create better videos. Let's begin by talking about why video is important since so many people don't understand the power of video in helping to tell their brand story or how it affects their overall marketing plan and SEO. This is an ongoing series and the statistics will blow your mind.

Why Video Is essential for your marketing plan in 2017

Many companies and organizations think video is a luxury in their marketing plan, but not essential. Below is a series of videos to demonstrate why video is actually essential now. Statistics show that it affects your web SEO, your email click-thru rates, the comfort level of people to buy after they've seen a video and much more.

Nonprofit Work

Storytelling can take on many forms. Here are some examples of nonprofit videos that are quite different from one another. They all tell a unique story that was based on the unique voice of the company. For Urban Edge and Be Bold, Be Bald, Steve Kolander actually wrote the song (melody and lyrics.) To create these unique voices, it is important to spend time with the clients talking about the essence of why they do what they do.

BOSTON COMMUNITY CAPITAL

"WE DON'T SEE MONEY. WE SEE WHAT MONEY CAN DO."

Wicked Good Cause Campaign

Wicked Good Cause helps people on Boston's South Shore deal with unforeseen illnesses and tragedies. It was very rewarding to talk to the recipients of Wicked Good Cause and seeing how strong they are in their desire to live and flourish even while they fight their cancers. (Wicked Good Cause helps more than cancer patients but this year, it just so happened those who needed the most TLC were Bridget and Kerri.)

Jimmy Fund Walk

Cancer is such a terrible disease that affects so many people that it seems we can't do enough to help raise funds to find the treatments and cures necessary to put this disease behind us. The Jimmy Fund is a famous brand in the Northeast and we were honored to help these guys. We used animation to to help them brand their own look to fit their ongoing campaign.

SolidWorks - Born To Design

This is a series created for SolidWorks, the world standard in 3D CAD software. We discovered that engineers and their designer counterparts are all cut from the same cloth; they can't leave well enough alone and they end up tinkering until they create something the world didn't even know it needed. These are a few of those stories we helped tell for SolidWorks.

Reebok - Inner City Weightlifting

Created for Reebok.  Jon Feinman and his team did a good thing when they decided to help at-risk youths and gang members get off the street by helping them see a different kind of life - one of a fitness instructor making honest money. What a great experience it was to meet these guys and help Reebok tell their story. I wish the very best for the young men at Inner City Weightlifting.

Urban Edge 40th Year Anniversary Gala

Urban Edge asked our team to create something unique; something that would be special for their 40th Anniversary. After spending over 8 hours with the Urban Edge team, we created a song that told the story of the trials and tribulations of this amazing organization. The moral to their story is; "When you find respect, you're home." Steve Kolander (CEO and Founder), was honored to write the song and enjoyed it being sung by the citizens of the Urban Edge community. Music producer Malik Williams was instrumental in pulling all the talent together.

Design That Matters

This tech startup designed a device that will save newborns with jaundice in developing countries that might otherwise die. We featured this amazing group as SolidWorks customers who invent fantastic products, using SolidWorks as their CAD tool of choice.

Be Bold Be Bald - Fighting Cancer Event

Syntouch - A bio-tech company that is creating touch to those with prosthetic hands

This is part of a series called 'Born To Design' that we created for SolidWorks. SolidWorks is the industry standard in CAD Design Software. Knowing that engineers and designers are inspired by the work of other like-minded inventors, we travelled the world, finding inventors that were using SolidWorks to create amazing devices.

HealthCare

Helping healthcare organizations is particularly rewarding.  Whether its speaking to investors, donors or creating relationships with their own customers and patients, the healthcare industry is especially receptive to great storytelling to inspire and motivate others to act for the common good.

Born To Design -The World's fastest Motorcycle

This online video series celebrates the persona of engineers and designers and their ability to create things the world didn't even know it needed. In this episode, Michael Cycz tells us what it's like to be innovative and the arrows one must take in order to create the first-of-its-kind. He shows us how SolidWorks not only makes it possible, but how he puts his life in the hands of this CAD software, never before testing the motorcycle before entering the Isle of Man and winning.

The Chestnut Hill School

Chestnut Hill School is a private elementary school whose Director Of Advancement came to us with a project to create a "farewell/thank you" video for their head of school of 10 years. We decided to use economies of scale and create two videos so that one would have longevity and help them with their admissions and fundraising. In two days we created enough footage and interviews to generate two very moving stories that are charming yet sophisticated to fit their brand.
